Balance Method SI-4 Logic

Look, here's the deal: SI-4 is a powerhouse because it connects to five different channels through the 6 Balance Method systems. We're talking about a single point on the hand that can treat the ankles, the neck, and the lower belly. This isn't local needling; this is systematic channel balancing that targets pain by understanding how the body mirrors itself.

SI-4 Treatment Applications (Systems 1-6)

One point, multiple applications. Know your systems, nail your treatment. (All 6 systems + clinical variations are mapped out step-by-step in the Balance Method Notebook—grab it here if you want the full SI channel breakdown.)

  • System 1: UB (Urinary Bladder)

    • Treats: Opposite ankles, lower back, neck

  • System 2: SP (Spleen)

    • Treats: Both ankles, lower belly

  • System 3: HT (Heart)

    • Treats: Opposite wrist, opposite shoulder

  • System 4: LIV (Liver)

    • Treats: Both ankles, lower belly

  • System 5: UB (Urinary Bladder)

    • Treats: Opposite ankles, lower back, neck

  • System 6: SI (Small Intestine)

    • Treats: Opposite wrist, same side or opposite shoulder

Balance Method SI-4 Protocol

I get it—memorizing six systems feels overwhelming at first. But once you see SI-4 knock out lower back pain in 45 minutes, you'll never look at the hand the same way again.

Here's the step-by-step for getting immediate results.

1. Location

Go to the ulnar side of the hand. Find the depression between the base of the 5th metacarpal and the hamate bone.

Pro Tip: Have the patient make a fist—the point pops out in that hollow spot.

2. Which Side

This depends entirely on what you're treating and which system you've chosen.

3. Depth (ASS)

Follow the As Same as Symptom principle.

  • Superficial pain (skin level)? Go shallow.

  • Deep pain (joint/bone level)? Go deeper.

  • Match the depth to where the patient feels the pain.

4. Retention

Always leave the needles for 45 minutes.

5. Immediate Check

Have the patient move the problem area right away. You should see immediate relief.

What You'll See (Expected Results)

Q: How fast does it work?

Immediate: You should see pain reduction while they are still on the table. If not, you're in the wrong system or at the wrong depth. Adjust immediately—don't wait five minutes.

Q: How many sessions for severe pain?

1-3 sessions: Even the most stubborn cases see major improvement here.

Q: How long until pain is gone?

4-7 sessions: This is your typical timeframe for full resolution.

Watch Out For (Safety & Mistakes)

  • Depth is everything: Don't guess. If the pain is deep and you needle shallowly, it won't work.

  • Anatomy: There are lots of small bones in the hand. Know your landmarks so you don't needle recklessly into a bone.

  • Common Mistake: Waiting too long to reassess. If it doesn't work NOW, adjust NOW.
